Petition for Five Commissioners

We the undersigned ask the Allegany County Commissioners to enact a county ordinance increasing the number of elected County Commissioners from the current three to five. Five commissioners would allow for more and varied perspectives to be considered and would encourage more discussion of issues. It would also increase representation for county residents, and allow for more interaction between Commissioners and taxpayers. In addition, we also ask that no additional funds be allotted to pay for the additional two commissioners. Instead, we ask that funding be maintained at its current level and be spread among five instead of three commissioners.
